stairs lead to the beach

confidence high, stepping down

a simple descent

 ascent difficult

 grasping the handrail tightly

fall, more times than not

wavering often

labouring to reach the top

The average person reading this, may not quite get it. What does going up and down a set of simple stairs have to do with fortitude? Everything, for anyone disabled by chronic disease...in my case -Multiple Sclerosis.

coming up for air

the ghosts living in my mind

i shallow breathe them

memories exhaled

mere remnants of what once was

just an illusion

i'm not who you knew

you would not recognize me

hidden in shadows
